VisionMobile (News - Alert), a market analysis and strategy firm that provides market projections and observations including research reports, industry maps, workshops and advisory services to the mobile industry, has announced a list of the 'Top 15 Mobile Software Products' that are available in mobile phones globally.

In the latest edition of its 'VisionMobile 100 Million Club', the semi-annual watchlist of mobile software products that have been embedded in more than 100 million mobile handsets, the firm has mentioned the names of these 15 products that play a vital role in providing consumers with an exciting, interactive mobile user experience, including text messaging, web browsing, speech recognition, software updating over-the-air and the latest mobile applications. The 'VisionMobile 100 Million Club' offers an analysis and study of the new trends in the capabilities of mass-market mobile phones.

The 'Top 15 Mobile Software Products' announced by VisionMobile names T9/XT9, a text input engine by Nuance as the topmost mobile software product at rank one, with 4,830 Million shipments and Nucleus, a real-time operating system developed by Mentor Graphics (News - Alert) at rank two with 2,110 Million shipments. Third rank in the list is claimed by Browser, a browsing application developed by Myriad Group with 2,106, while OSE, a real-time operating system by ENEA and Flash/Flash Lite, a graphics runtime application by Adobe have grabbed the fourth and fifth ranks with 1,700 and 1,300 Million shipments respectively.

Next in the VisionMobile list, Series 40, an operating system developed by Nokia claims the sixth spot with 1,150 Million shipments, and Messaging client, a messaging middleware, a yet another offering by the Myriad Group stands at the seventh rank with 1,020 Million shipments.

Flash Data Integrator, a file system application developed by Numonyx comes at the eighth rank in the coveted list with 906 Million shipments, while eZiText/eZiType, a text input engine developed by Nuance (News - Alert) claims the ninth rank with 770 Million shipments. The tenth, eleventh and twelfth ranks in the list have been assigned to Netfront, a browser by ACCESS with 755 Million shipments, LifeVibes MxMedia, a multimedia middleware developed by NXP Software with 690 Million shipments and vRapidMobile, a firmware over the air or 'FOTA' application offered by Red Bend Software (News - Alert) 680 Million shipments respectively. BREW, an application environment developed by Qualcomm grabbed the thirteenth spot in the list with 610 Million shipments, while JBlend, a Java virtual machine provided by Aplix claiming 607 Million shipments has been named the fourteenth rank. At the fifteenth and the last rank in the 'Top 15 Mobile Software Products' list announced by VisionMobile stands MascotCapsule, a graphics engine developed by HI CORPORATION with 575 Million shipments.

According to Andreas Constantinou, Research Director of VisionMobile, the 100 Million Club is an important milestone for all mobile software companies to strive for because it means their product has reached mass-market appeal. Constantinou noted that these companies have managed to penetrate the core of the mobile handset industry with software products that have become essential handset components and shipped in volumes many times over much-hyped software, like Google's (News - Alert) Android or Apple's OSX.

Previously this month, Open Kernel Labs, a provider of embedded virtualization software for mobile phones and broadband Internet devices, announced that its market-leading mobile virtualization solution, OKL4, has again been included in the VisionMobile 100 Million Club.
