Pocketglow Announces Availability of SpeakEasy Travel Apps for Windows Phone 7

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

Pocketglow has revealed the availability of the SpeakEasy suite of travel apps for Windows Phone 7.

The SpeakEasy suit of travel apps, which has been made readily available, has already sold over 24,000 copies on iPhone (News - Alert). Pocketglow has made these travel audio-phrasebooks available for users of Windows Phone 7.

In a release, Benjamin McDowell, Pocketglow Founder said that "It's more convenient to carry your phone than a heavy travel phrasebook. And because your phone can also play audio, our SpeakEasy travel audio-phrasebooks make a perfect companion when abroad. Better still, our apps do not require an internet connection and are human translated, not machine translated."

SpeakEasy travel audio-phrasebooks have been designed to provide some of the most basic travel phrases which have been translated from English into several foreign languages. The translations are accompanied by a clear audio recording of a native speaker, in addition to an easy-to-read phonetic translation. To make travel to foreign lands an easier and enriching experience for people, the travel phrases included in the audio-phrasebooks provide basic “know-how” on several essential topics such as etiquette while interacting with the local population, information on popular eating places in addition to providing basic information on transportation, sightseeing and shopping.

The SpeakEasy travel audio-phrasebooks have been translated into French, Russian and Ukrainian. Based on the popularity of the already available travel audio-phrasebooks, Pocketglow is planning on providing additional travel audio-phrasebooks in several different languages in the near future.

SpeakEasy French, SpeakEasy Russian, and SpeakEasy Ukrainian have been made available at cost of US$3.99 each on the Windows Phone 7 and are available for iPhone, iPad and Android (News - Alert) devices. For users interested in sampling the audio-phrasebooks, Pocketglow has provided free trial versions which contain a sample of the phrases.

Pocketglow which is based in Toronto, Canada was founded by Benjamin McDowell. The company has been focusing on providing mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone (News - Alert) 7 devices since 2008. Some of the more popular offerings from Pocketglow include Harmonica, which sold more than 115,000, and 3D Drum Kit, which was an instant hit and has more than a million users across the globe.
