The newly redesigned Superpages app will make it easy for customers of Superpages.com, local search expert and online resource for business and retailer information, to browse popular categories and carry out voice searches. The company which announced the release of its completely redesigned mobile application user-interface and its search engine technology has made the searching process over Yellow or White Pages easier for customers interested in looking up information on business, movies, maps and directions for driving among a host of other such searches. The Yellow Pages Superpages app has been enhanced with a new one field auto-complete search, voice search capabilities, and a category spinner.

In a release, Chris Folmar, director of mobile products at SuperMedia, said that, “Spin it, Say it, Search it. With the new features we’ve added, consumers can easily search and find information and insights on local businesses and retailers.”

The Superpages spinner will make it easy for customers to browse the different categories listed with the flick of the finger. Located on the homepage of the app, the spinner has been designed to support spins for more than 75 Yellow Pages categories. Users can also use a voice search feature when on the go. In case any typing is required, the user can use the single field search feature which has been designed to auto-complete the search query. Users can locate the Yellow Pages by Superpages applications on the iPhone or iPod Touch, and Google (News - Alert) Android platforms; the app will be made available for iPad in the coming months. Additionally, users can find the app at the Superpages Mobile web address at m.superpages.com.

Greg Sterling, senior analyst Opus Research, said “The new Superpages app is a significant improvement over earlier versions. It’s smarter, easier to use and the scroll wheel is kind of addictive.”

Capabilities of the redesigned Yellow Pages by Superpages app include provisions for searching discounts and money-saving deals from restaurants, home improvement contractors, auto repair shops among others along with business detail pages with swipe-bar features and a provision for providing users with interactive step-by-step driving directions and listing of various stops on the way. The app also provides users with a GPS Assist Auto-location that comes with a Manual Override option in addition to providing forecasts for 5 days. Users can also use the app for finding movie listings, for reading reviews and can access their My Superpages account to see a history of their previous searches.
