Ozonetel Systems Adds Support for Hindi and Telugu to Text-To-Speech Services

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Ozonetel Systems, a pioneer in cloud telephony services in India, announced that they have added two regional languages – Hindi and Telugu- to its text-to-speech services. The company plans to add one more language Kannada soon.

Ozonetel offers the cloud telephony platform, KooKoo, to developers, allowing them to build voice apps for Web applications just by integrating its API. Whenever a user calls the KooKoo number, it informs the application which in turn instructs KooKoo to complete an action.

Users of Ozonetel Systems’ KooKoo cloud telephony solution will benefit from the new language support. Developers using the platform will be able to add capabilities for supporting additional languages with the addition of some additional code, and build localized telephony applications, says a news report from Medianama.

To add the language attribute, developers need to use an additional “lang” attribute with KooKoo’s ‘playtext’ tag (News - Alert), which informs KooKoo to play the text specified in the tag using the text to speech engine, the report said.

Ozonetel Systems offers the attribute free to developers. However, for paid accounts, the company will charge a minimum amount per KooKoo account per month.

The company recently formed a partnership with doorstep cash payment network Gharpay to offer offline payments through Interactive Voice Response (IVR).

Under this partnership KooKoo will provide the telephony interface, while Gharpay will take care of the logistics for collecting payments. The service will provide a ‘pay cash after/before delivery’ payment option to customers who do not want to use their credit or debit cards over the phone.

IVR has experienced considerable growth over the last year. Much of this unprecedented growth has been driven by vendors making significant strides in developing IVR technology to meet the needs of our highly-interactive society, TMCnet reported recently.
