C3 Works with Aculab for Enhanced IVR Services

By Allison Boccamazzo, TMCnet Web Editor

Aculab and long-term partner C3 (News - Alert) are boasting a great customer win built on the deployment of C3’s switch agnostic IVR and messaging platform. In doing so, C3 was able to use the flexibility of Aculab’s (News - Alert) Prosody X media processing boards to add conferencing services to the Cambridge University system – all without any major upgrades necessary.

The C3 Apcentia platform incorporates C3’s Fusion product and is based on Aculab’s Prosody X media processing boards. For C3, the customer upgrade was “straight forward because Prosody X support messaging, IVR and conferencing features as standard.”

The only thing necessary to future proof the system for expected increase in usage was an upgrade to add capacity (adding additional DSP recources).

“The same principle could be used in the future to extend the University system. One example might be an upgrade from the current system’s G.711 audio, to wideband audio (HD Voice) support, for both messaging and conferencing. Prosody X resources already include support for wideband audio, so an upgrade to support this capability would be an easy win for C3 and ourselves. Aculab’s Prosody X technology allows us to deploy TDM and SIP-based systems that can be fully migrated to 100 percent IP Telephony with no application disturbance, or the need to replace system components,” noted John Wood, Joint Owner C3. ”The flexible enabling technology also provides an extensible foundation to facilitate the adding of more applications. This extends the usefulness of the system and the end customer’s ROI,” said Andrew Nicholson, Aculab Product Manager.
