Zurmo Adds Reporting and Workflow to Roadmap

By Meenakshi Shankar, TMCnet Contributor

Reps and managers are blindfolded if they don’t have the ability to drill down on customer facing metrics through reporting. Without automation through a good workflow engine, employees get caught up in tedious minutiae and lose face time with their customers.

Zurmo is an Open Source (News - Alert) CRM alternative that is mobile, social and gamified. The company recently announced the addition of reporting and workflow as part of Zurmo Project’s strategy to make full Enterprise-class CRM functionality available freely and openly.

“You will not find another Open Source CRM application that is freely available, that includes full Enterprise class functionality, based on original code, and so simple to further develop,” Ray Stoeckicht, cofounder of Zurmo, said in a statement.

“At Zurmo we want people to take what we’re building together and make it better. We help the community. The community helps us grow and support the software. It’s kind of a no-brainer.”

Zurmo is the first CRM project of its kind to include deep Enterprise features in an Open Source Edition. The application is currently in beta. Significant releases to date have included Sales Force Automation, Activity Management, Gamification, and Social CRM.

Zurmo is seeking contributors to add code, fix bugs and work on translations. The project is built on an honest open source model supported by a diverse community passionate about engineering the highest quality CRM on earth that people will actually use.

“Certain functionality is undeniably crucial to attaining an effective CRM strategy. Developers and end users shouldn’t be deprived of real CRM functionality just because the software edition they are using is freely downloadable,” said Jason Green, cofounder of Zurmo. “Zurmo is about taking the handcuffs off and giving the open source CRM community the respect it deserves.”
