TMCnet's Knowledge Management Week in Review

By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Contributor

It’s Wednesday, and we’re recapping the news a bit early for some holiday celebrating. But there’s still a lot to learn in knowledge management headlines this week.

First up, Wipro Technologies (News - Alert) entered into a partnership with ThinkVine to deliver a new product that will offer various solutions for marketing purposes. The solutions, according to the report, will optimize marketing plans and drive brand growth by improving forecasting of marketing spends, tactics and timing across consumer groups, products, channels and geographies – on a global scale.

“Through our strategic partnership with ThinkVine, we can now help the consumer goods industry optimize marketing investments to drive growth and profitability. With the integration of ThinkVine’s marketing mix optimization solution into our ever expanding Integrated Trade and Marketing expertise, we help CMOs gain competitive advantage by having more predictability and achieve better results through optimizing their marketing investments,” said Srini Pallia, senior vice president and head, retail, CPG, transportation & government, Wipro Technologies.

A new study from digital marketing firm Optify (News - Alert) takes a look at the “not provided” result in Google’s search referral data as people are looking for B2B sites.

Basically, when someone enters certain B2B sites, “not provided” comes up as the search term, and Optify says this is likely due to a new feature from Google (News - Alert) that encrypts the search transaction with SSL for people who are signed in with a Google account.

"Referral data from organic search is quickly disappearing, and we believe that soon the majority of referring keywords will be listed as 'not provided.' This is yet another example of how the SEO practice is at the mercy of the search engines, and we believe it's time for B2B marketers to focus on the data they have for creating a personalized experience for their visitors and leads,” said Rob Eleveld, CEO at Optify. “If you are a digital marketing agency providing only SEO services, it's time to start diversifying.”
