Swire Properties Selects e-Builder

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

e-Builder, a provider of construction program management software, has announced that Swire Properties has picked up e-Builder Enterprise as its construction program management software for the Brickell CitiCentre project.

e-Builder allows an organization to make use of Web-based construction management software to enhance productivity, accountability and profitability. The roles of owners, contractors and other entities vary throughout the construction project process, and this is done without a central database where the risk for potential conflict changes and claims is high.

To facilitate transparency, accountability and collaboration for all individuals involved in the project, construction management software can provide a foundation in this varying environment.

e-Builder Enterprise’s Documents module will be used as the central repository for all project files. To store, markup and send documents while offering an automated audit trail of revisions and markups, Swire Properties required a user-friendly system.

They wanted to make sure stakeholders had a safe platform to come together and exchange files. They can also track activities to make sure action items were dealt with efficiently.

Charl Myburgh, director of Information Technology at Swire Properties, said, “Aside from the ability to create customized processes, one of the features that particularly interested us was e-Builder’s ability to drill down into the live data directly from the reports.”

Recently, the company announced that Children's Hospital Colorado has deployed e-Builder Enterprise. This installation supports its construction program management team's efforts to maintain transparency and consistent processes in the complete $400-million capital plan.

The company currently has a portfolio of 22 active projects.

This initiative will provide the company more control on project expenses, and will allow it to enhance productivity and automate a broad range of processes, like change requests, project requests, budget modifications and cash flow, and project cost forecasting.
