Design of the times for this growing firm [Hull Daily Mail (England)]
(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DESIGN: A marketing and design company set up just two years ago has moved to larger premises to give itself room to grow. Umber Creative is forecasting a 30 per cent growth in business over the next 12 months.
The company also expects to take on another member of staff to help with the expanding workload and manage clients' accounts.
Creative director Kevin Wilkie, 35, said the company currently has a full order book, which he felt was "an achievement in this current climate".
He said: "Our new office is three times the size of our previous office, so we now have the room we need to grow the business.
"We've shown year-on-year growth and are forecasting 30 per cent growth over the next 12 months.
"People are starting to take a harder look at us because we have been around for a couple of years and we are clearly not a flash in the pan."
Mr Wilkie launched the company in May 2010 with fellow director Luke Foster, 27.
Previously, they worked together at another local marketing agency where Mr Wilkie was the creative director and Mr Foster was the senior web developer. Umber Creative has now moved less than 500m from the University of Hull's Enterprise Centre to Newlands Science Park.
Last year, the company took on apprentice designer Kara Dawson, 17, under a Government scheme and over the past two years, Umber Creative has established a client base of local and national companies.
The company also offers marketing support to the Smile Foundation, and has donated a website to the charity's Boss Behind Bars challenge.
