By making use of Entrust’s (News - Alert) comprehensive authentication framework, Heartland Business Systems hopes to deliver an authentication service that can aid law enforcement agencies to comply with the FBI security and authentication requirements specified in the Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) Policy.
Entrust claimed that its strong authentication platform enables identity-based security to safeguard access to sensitive information and intellectual property for employees, partners and customers. It offers a multilayered authentication framework consolidating identity-based security across financial institutions and the enterprise that provides flexible deployment options to solve the most daunting security challenges.
“Our partnership with Heartland Business Systems is a critical step that will enable these agencies to easily and cost-effectively comply with the FBI's CJIS policy — all via a single security management framework”, stated Entrust president and CEO Bill Conner, in a statement.
As per the newly signed agreement, both Entrust and Heartland Business Systems will be developing a new turn-key authentication solution that can enable law enforcement officials easily to access sensitive info from non-secure locations and at the same time comply with CJIS requirements.
The CJIS Security Policy reportedly provides a secure framework of laws, standards, and elements of published and vetted policies for accomplishing the mission across the broad spectrum of the criminal justice and noncriminal justice communities.
Heartland exclaimed that it develops identity authentication methodologies to help avoid security breaches and identity management protocols to govern data access privileges based on employees’ roles in the operation. The company added that its partnership with Entrust will help provide law enforcement agencies with the proper security capabilities to authenticate user identities and safeguard sensitive information about citizens, ongoing cases, evidence and more.
In related news, Entrust was the first SSL company to complete compliance review for new Microsoft (News - Alert) Root program and Heartland Business Systems recently acquired assets of Victorin Business Systems.
