Business Intelligence Associates recently announced that it will be delivering the Legal Hold feature of its TotalDiscovery.com online eDiscovery solution, free to all users. It was revealed that the recent Apple vs. Samsung (News - Alert) ruling instigated BIA to make this announcement.
The company made it clear that anyone can sign up for a free account at TotalDiscovery.com and start issuing legal hold notices to relevant custodians, including employees and third parties, in order to preserve documents for legal reasons.
TotalDiscovery.com is a cloud-based eDiscovery legal hold, data collection and ECA tool, available to corporations and law firms. The solution reduces the costs and risks related to litigation, regulatory compliance and internal audits.
“With the sufficiency of legal hold notices becoming a central point in more and more cases, such as in the recent Apple (News - Alert) v. Samsung ruling, we decided it was time to remove any and all barriers that companies may have in implementing a truly effective legal hold process by making the TotalDiscovery.com Legal Hold feature absolutely free to all customers,” said Brian Schrader, BIA president.
The full functioning legal hold features integrated intoTotalDiscovery.com will provide automatic reminders, on-the-fly legal hold scope adjustment, escalations, custom memos and reporting.
Furthermore, users get to use the free TotalDiscovery.com Data Profiler feature to create comprehensive early data assessment reports that will come in use in litigation budgeting, and to confer meetings and legal strategy planning.
These two features synergize and deliver an effective way to fulfill legal obligations and start the eDiscovery process sooner, explained officials.
“We’re confident that when using the Legal Hold feature, our users will see how TotalDiscovery.com transforms the entire eDiscovery process into a simple, streamlined and cost-effective experience,” added Schrader.
TotalDiscovery.com can start data gathering quickly and easily from computers, social media and cloud computing. Then the collected data can be analyzed, filtered and exported to any legal document review platform.
The whole process does not require any new hardware or software installation.
BIA enhanced the Automatic Reminder feature in TotalDiscovery by adding a new Escalation feature that allows quick and easy escalation to a supervisor if an employee fails to timely acknowledge a notice. New Cross Matter Reporting gives administrators a global overview with new detail of active legal holds across all matters, greatly simplifying multi-matter management.
