Eltek Initiates Legal Action Against ZTE

Safeguarding a patented technology should be easy, as patents are issued by government bodies, but often, that’s not the case. Companies all over the world have been fighting legal battles for years against violation of their patents.

Recently, Eltek has been fighting some hard legal battles to protect its patented technologies. After filing a case against UPS, another Chinese company, for allegedly violating its patents, the company has now announced a legal action against Chinese telecoms equipment company ZTE (News - Alert).

Eltek believes that the company’s patent infringement and intellectual property rights are consistently being violated in recent years, and now, the company plans to take legal action against those alleged violators. The company claims that ZTE violated a patented design element in its HE technology. According to the company, it had already had a talk with ZTE about the alleged patent infringements, but ZTE has not agreed on that.

The company provides Flatpack2 High-Efficiency (HE) DC rectifiers in its outdoor cabinets. According to the company, this new technology saves money for the users and also enables companies to do their bit to protect the environment, as it consumes less energy.

“To keep up with our ambition of maintaining technology leadership, we have to make significant investments in R&D and in protection of the intellectual property of our design and ideas. Our position as holders of the original HE (high efficiency) technology is very important to us and we are willing to go to great lengths to protect it,” explained Morten Schøyen, chief marketing officer at Eltek.

Recently, the company sold all of its shares in Nera Telecommunications (News - Alert) Ltd to Asia Systems Ltd. The company was looking to dedicate more time for its power electronics business, with this sale being the result of that effort. The company confidently believes that this transaction will reinforce its financial platform.
