Texthelp Unveils New Web App for Google Docs

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Texthelp Inc., a provider of award-winning literacy software solutions, has announced the release of Read&Write for Google (News - Alert) Docs.

Google Docs is a free, Web-based office suite and data storage service offered by Google, allowing users create and edit documents online and collaborate with others in real time.

The storage of files up to 1 GB in size was unveiled in 2010, but has since been increased to 10 GB. Documents using Google Docs native formats do not count towards this quota.

While Read&Write for Google Docs offers the support tools required to make the documents accessible to all, Google Docs allows teachers and students to create and collaborate on documents in real time in the Cloud.

In the Chrome browser on PCs or Macs, Read&Write for Google Docs integrates many of Read&Write GOLD's most popular support features into Google documents.

“More and more schools and districts are utilizing Google Docs for its collaborative nature and availability in the Cloud and are looking for tools to support all of their students in this environment,” said Jack Dolan, president of Texthelp, Inc. “Read&Write for Google Docs was designed to ensure anytime accessibility within these documents.”

Recently, the company announced a new spelling app available free of cost and designed for smaller mobile devices such as iPod Touch or iPhones. The Spelling App allows users to look up a single word and get spelling suggestions, including text definitions and picture images. Text definitions can be read aloud with dual color highlighting.
