Critical Path and Unified Communications Unveil New Range of Messaging Appliances

By Sujata Garud, TMCnet Contributor

Critical Path (News - Alert) has launched a new range of Messaging Appliances, aimed to meet the needs of customers leveraging the scalability of cloud computing within their own Enterprise data centers.

The new ‘Series 8’ appliances deliver in excess of 100 percent throughput performance and more than three times greater storage capacities as compared to the previous generation. In addition, the series continues to offer the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in the industry.

Series 8 hardware includes new quad and six-core Intel (News - Alert) Xeon processors along with new high-performance RAID controllers. Storage has been boosted to up to 8 TB of usable storage built in to the high-end models with hot-plug, high-performance SAS (News - Alert) drives – and an integrated LCD and Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) for facilitating operational maintenance and diagnostics.

The new appliances facilitate unmatched security and allow customers to remain in total control of their e-mail and messaging data. Whether Series 8 appliances are deployed within a cloud or a corporate firewall, users appreciate the ability to access their e-mail from any desktop or mobile Web browser, while administrators appreciate the appliance’s high reliability, low support needs and low TCO.

Mark Palomba, CEO at Critical Path, said, “The Series 8 range offers proven reliability at the marketplace’s lowest TCO. This is ideal for cloud-computing providers and enterprises that require crucial corporate data to reside inside their own firewalls.”

Critical Path’s family of messaging appliances includes RazorSafe and RazorGate, allowing customers to integrate messaging with secure archiving and anti-spam/anti-virus protection. The new systems also bring a new version of the software MOS 4.4. This delivers significant performance improvements alongside support for the new hardware.

Recently, Critical Path was rated a 'Top Player" in The Radicati Group's (News - Alert) released "Messaging Platforms for Service Providers - Market Quadrant 2012." Radicati forecasts this large and growing market will see worldwide revenue expand from nearly $1.1 billion to over $2.8 billion by 2016.

'Top Players' are identified as the current leaders in the market, with products that have built up large customer bases.

Sara Radicati, president and CEO at The Radicati Group, said, "CP is a leading player in the Messaging Platforms for Service Provider space. The company has a large installed base, and provides a complete set of email and collaboration solutions all under one unified user interface. Overall, CP provides a reliable, robust, and highly scalable solution for service providers of any size. CP has earned its position as a 'Top Player'."
