Singlewire Software has released the Paging Gateway (News - Alert), saying that the solution allows InformaCast’s audio broadcasts across a network that does not/cannot support multicast traffic on the IP data network.

“The Singlewire Paging Gateway provides organizations many more options for designing and deploying mass notification, emergency communication, and overhead paging systems when limited bandwidth is an issue,” said Ken Bywaters, executive vice president for product development at Singlewire Software, in a statement.

This newest offering converts the network traffic generated by an InformaCast audio broadcast into a unicast stream. Company officials said that the unicast stream can be received at a remote location and redistributed via multicast to IP phones, IP speakers, analog paging systems, computer desktops, and more. It comprises of server, application, and plugin.

Moreover, the server that hosts the application – typically at a remote location – can be a stand-alone hardware appliance available for purchase from Singlewire Software, a physical server, or a VMware virtual server, said company officials.

Company officials said that the Paging Gateway plugin integrates with InformaCast notification software, usually located at a central office or in a data center. In addition, this newest offering stand-alone hardware appliance has audio line level out capability that enables direct connection to analog paging amplifiers.

The Paging Gateway works in conjunction with Singlewire InformaCast version 8.0.1, a network-based mass notification, emergency communication, and overhead paging system.

With InformaCast, users can simultaneously send an audio and/or text message to a variety of endpoints – IP speakers, Cisco (News - Alert) IP phones, overhead paging systems, computer desktops, digital signage, SMS text, social media sites, and more. Also, it can be used to send bell tones for passing bells in K-12 schools and shift changes in manufacturing environments, said company officials.

Earlier last month, Singlewire Software and Valcom (News - Alert) released an InformaCast compatible analog clock/talkback speaker.
