The provider of innovative digital video networking solutions for broadband service providers, BigBand Networks (News - Alert), Inc. recently unveiled the enhanced version of its vIP PASS IP video delivery solution at this year’s Cable Show.
In a press release, BigBand Networks said that in its enhanced version, the vIP PASS IP solution can support on-demand programming and back-office connectivity, in addition to linear TV.
In its enhanced version, BigBand's vIP PASS can be integrated into Clearleap's Stream On Demand system, which is designed to power content delivery over IP to connected set-tops, devices, and TVs. The system is leveraged by the operators to stream unlimited hours and titles over existing broadband networks, creating a compelling content offering delivered directly to the TV. With the integration with Clearleap's Stream On Demand system, the enhanced BigBand solution will allow operators to stream entire libraries of managed linear and on-demand video content to IP-connected televisions or devices. This, according to BigBand will enable operators to bundle and monetize more content to more devices, with more efficient use of bandwidth.
The tie-up between BigBand and Clearleap's Stream On Demand system will enable operators to offer multi-screen services to the growing array of unmanaged consumer devices such as gaming consoles, iPads, Blue-Ray, mobile devices, PCs and more.
Thus by addressing operators' immediate need to support consumers' growing demand for multi-screen video delivery, the solution will help operators to better compete with over-the-top (OTT) services.
“With Clearleap, we have expanded our IP video delivery solution to support on demand services, truly giving the operator the ability to deliver more content anywhere at any time. We believe that the combined Stream On Demand and vIP PASS solution delivers the operational ease and seamless integration that our customers are seeking. This can accelerate the time-to-market with new services and open up a large and growing market opportunity,” Jay Chambers, vice president and chief architect at BigBand Networks explained in a statement.
In the release, BigBand said that operators that already utilize Stream On Demand can easily integrate vIP PASS, and vice versa. This solution will be demonstrated in BigBand's booth #449 at The Cable Show 2011, the sources at BigBand informed.
In an earlier media release, BigBand claimed that it has achieved a rare milestone by delivering more than one billion ad transactions in the last year for seven of the top 10 Multiple Systems Operators (MSOs) in North America.
