The National Film Board of Canada, Canada's twelve-time Academy Award-winning public film producer and distributor, and ATEME, a provider of video compression solutions, have entered into a partnership.

The pact aims to build an innovative multi-screen delivery workflow around ATEME's TITAN video processing platform.

"With the proliferation of new digital platforms for watching and sharing films, NFB is working to bring its rich collection of documentaries, animation and interactive productions to audiences everywhere, on any device," said Luisa Frate, director general, CFO, COO, CTO at NFB, in a statement.

Frate said that NFB cooperation with ATEME covers a wide range of target devices and adaptive delivery formats.

“We've joined forces to design software for transcoding files and streams that fully comply with both industry formats and our high standards for content integrity. What's more, we're building in an operational scalability that will ensure these solutions are compatible with all future requirements," said Frate.

“The partnership with the NFB gives us exposure to an incredibly diversified catalogue of content, exactly the type of challenge that stimulates our research on video compression efficiency to deliver the best possible quality on any device,” said Michel Artieres, CEO of ATEME.

“Such diversity, combined with the complexity and scale of the NFB operations, makes this partnership a truly rewarding experience for our teams," said Artieres.

ATEME is a provider of MPEG-4 / H.264 and MPEG-2 bandwidth efficient compression technology.

ATEME encoding solutions are deployed widely for broadcast contribution links, distribution, multi-screen live streaming, OTT and VOD applications.

Recently, ODmedia and ATEME announced their continued relationship and the recent upgrade of the ODmedia facilities with the latest KFE release.

This enterprise-grade encoding software enables ODmedia to further expand its network of over 100 operators it delivers video content to.

ODmedia digitizes, archives, encodes/transcodes and distributes video content from numerous content owners and distributors to a continuously expanding group of over 100 telecoms and cable operators in more than 35 countries worldwide.
