TMCnet Live Streaming Coverage Week in Review

Welcome to the Friday edition of all things Live Streaming as we recap the goings on in the Live Streaming community on TMCnet!

This week, the National Film Board of Canada partnered up with ATEME, a provider of video compression solutions to build a new multi-screen digital media delivery workflow.


“The partnership with the NFB gives us exposure to an incredibly diversified catalogue of content, exactly the type of challenge that stimulates our research on video compression efficiency to deliver the best possible quality on any device,” said Michel Artieres, CEO of ATEME.

“Such diversity, combined with the complexity and scale of the NFB operations, makes this partnership a truly rewarding experience for our teams,” said Artieres.

In other partnership news, Clear Channel (News - Alert) and Univision teamed up in an effort to bring to the new iHeartRadio platform Univision’s 70 radio stations and programming.

This is the first third party distribution relationship for iHeartRadio, which now offers more than 800 radio and digital-only stations. The official New iHeartRadio on September 23 at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

“This agreement highlights our strategy of providing the most complete array of radio stations imaginable, and it’s one more validation of our platform that Univision Radio is joining iHeartRadio,” said Bob Pittman, chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms for Clear Channel.

In market intelligence news, global Digital Signage Systems market is projected to reach $13.8 billion by the year 2017, according to Companiesandmarkets.com. According to the report, digital signage displays are the largest segment with indoor digital signage expected to see growth over the forecast period. The report also dictates that Digital Signage Systems Market recorded anomalous growth amid recession, and the market bolstered by innovative hybrid digital signage/kiosk systems.

In other digital signage and even more partnership news, Advantech (News - Alert) and Stinova partnered up to target multiple markets including digital signage, self-service kiosks and other graphics-centric applications.

“With Stinova we have a software partner that can offer lifetime licenses as well as SaaS (News - Alert) including content services which offers flexibility to the customers. Stinova’s partners will be able to order our hardware with a pre-installed image of the Stinova player software for Windows and Linux so that it’s ready for installation upon delivery,” said Bas Smeets, Advantech’s Business Development Manager for Intelligent Services, in a statement.
