CTC Media , Inc., Russia's independent media company, announces that CTC Media's social TV network, Videomore, has launched applications for iPhone (News - Alert) and Android mobile platforms. This is part of the company's new media initiative to make its content available over multiple platforms and applications.
The Videomore widget can also be installed on D-Link's Boxee (News - Alert) digital media player. Its content can be accessed from different mobile platforms which support the portal's HTML5 format. A Videomore application customized for the iPad is also being developed. Also, Videomore content will be made available on internet-enabled TV sets and most multimedia players soon.
Askar Tuganbaev, Internet Project Development Director of CTC Media, stated, "Desktop computers do not provide users with the flexible, view anywhere access, that more than 10 million Videomore subscribers demand. Our goal is to please our customers and to make the portal available on a wide range of mobile devices for their convenience. New versions will be upgraded with new features and functionality, enabling users to participate in various social networking activities, while watching videos. We are confident that the variety of applications available will attract more customers to use Videomore, which will also make the process of viewing content more convenient, sociable and entertaining."
The application helps to restore previous video sessions. Users of Apple's (News
- Alert) mobile iOS platform can only access the applications in a basic format. Subscribers can search content, play videos and navigate through the website's main sections, such as "Most popular", "Series", "Shows" and "Programs". The more advanced application available for Android (News - Alert) already includes all of the main services from Videomore, like friends' lists, comments, subscriptions to projects and users' personal blogs. Soon, all social functions, like playlists and video citations, will be available on all major mobile platforms.
Also, the expansion of the international version of CTC in countries with a considerable number of Russian-speaking viewers is an important direction of the company’s strategic development. The potential audience of CTC-International in all current territories of operations is approximately 15 million viewers.
In 2009, CTC Media launched international satellite broadcasting in the USA. In June 2010, the launch of international broadcasting on the Yes satellite platform and the HOT cable network took place in Israel, and later in March 2011 – in Germany via the Kartina TV IPTV (News
- Alert) network. CTC Media plans to further expand its geographical presence in the near future, with the launch of broadcasting in Canada.
