Japan's Star Systems Selects Nectar Services for UC Monitoring

Communications services providers have multiple solutions in place to address the different platforms, systems and devices in today’s complex digital ecosystem. Star Systems, a unified communications company, has selected Nectar’s (News - Alert) Unified Communication Management Platform (UCMP) for its advanced UC network monitoring and management solution.


Star Systems is a Japanese company that provides UC and cloud-based technologies with a vast number of voice endpoints throughout Japan and a leading presence in the telecom and financial sectors. The company brings together solutions from global third party vendors and integrates them as part of its overall communications offering. Managing and monitoring all of these platforms can get complicated as more technologies get introduced.

The new agreement between Star System and Nectar Services, provider of development and deployment of proactive network monitoring and management software for the Unified UC industry, will make Nectar the exclusive UC network monitoring and application performance management solution provider.

Communications companies need monitoring solutions because they have to have visibility across the entire UC network. As more vendors become part of their ecosystem, a predictable and actionable analysis capable of troubleshooting any potential problems ensures voice, video data applications, web collaboration applications, systems and networks are delivered to end users with greater reliability.

With the Nectar UCMP, customers using Star Systems' solutions can assess network performance in real-time across any UC environment. The company has an architecture-based, vendor-agnostic approach for performance management across global IP communications systems of inventory, monitoring, alarming, root-cause-analysis and capacity. It has remediation and remote programming support in place to continue a seamless user experience.

The UCMP has an architecture built from the ground up comprised of four components capable of addressing the needs of different business communications deployments. They are:

  • UC Foundation (UCF) – Superior Health & Performance Monitoring & Management
  • UC Diagnostics (UCD) – Advanced Monitoring, Management, Reporting and Diagnostics
  • Perspective – Easy-to-Deploy Synthetic Testing Capabilities
  • Call Analysis – Multi-Vendor CDR Collection, Rating & Cost Analysis
