ShoreTel Connect Wins TMC's Unified Communications Product of the Year Award

TMC has named ShoreTel (News - Alert) Connect as a 2016 Unified Communications Product of the Year Award winner.

“We're delighted to be recognized by TMC for ShoreTel Connect," said Eugenia Corrales, senior vice president of product at ShoreTel. "The team worked meticulously to deliver a unique unified communications solution that offers the flexibility and usability that businesses require today."

While many UC solutions are either hosted or on-premises, ShoreTel Connect is unique in that it lets its customers deploy hybrid UC systems that combine both hosted and cloud deployments. Customers can choose from licensing ShoreTel Connect monthly or as a traditional software license.

While cloud UC systems are currently all the rage, some organizations such as medical offices might prefer on-premises systems if they have complicated requirements or need to adhere to regulations. Small companies that have a lot of mobile workers might opt for a cloud deployment.

The flexibility also extends to the actual devices it supports. Users can make calls on mobile phones, desktop PCs and desktop phones both in and out of the office, share files and even share the view from a smartphone camera. Users can also move calls from devices instantly, such as taking a call from a PC to a mobile device.

While it’s been possible to do all of these actions in separate programs, ShoreTel touts the ability to do everything in one platform as a major productivity breakthrough. The company said its product eliminates separate logins and application windows.

It’s this kind of flexibility that’s gotten the attention of TMC (News - Alert).
