Lync Migration Week in Review: Microsoft, Google, AirWatch

There’s a lot of exciting news to be found on the Lync Migration site this week. Whether you’re interested in learning about audio quality on Skype (News - Alert) for Business, Microsoft’s security slips, Google drones or data protection -  Lync Migration has all the latest news. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at the past few days.

The week started off with the news that hearing quality has been optimized on Skype for Business. TMC’s (News - Alert) Peter Bernstein weighs in on the importance of having better hearing quality, and notes that it is essential for workers to have good headsets. He mentions this necessary precaution because, “with so many organizations of all sizes and locations in the process of moving to, or contemplating a move to reliance on Skype for Business from Microsoft (News - Alert), they need to think about the sound quality of the interactive tool/headset their frontline people are using to interact with all current and potential stakeholders.” You can find all the information on this topic HERE.

On a different note, we may finally be entering the era of The Jetsons. Although we have already have videoconferencing, we have yet to take it to the same level as Mr. Spaceley, who would appear on George’s TV screen or float by on a screen supported by a drone. Well, office may soon be experiencing the latter thanks to Google’s (News - Alert) drones. These drones could be used to take videoconferencing to the next level, enabling a videoconference participant to be present in a room via flying drone or holograph. In other news, security was a major topic this week. Twenty-seven seems to be the unlucky number for Microsoft, as they had to recently patch 27 separate vulnerabilities.  According to TMC’s Steve Anderson, “Several Microsoft products played host to the vulnerabilities, at last report, cropping up in not just Windows, but also Microsoft Office and both of Microsoft's Web browsers, Internet Explorer and Edge. The patches in question were built into nine separate security bulletins, over half of which—five, at last report—were rated “critical,” while the remaining four were classified as merely ‘important.’” You can learn more about Microsoft’s recent security slips HERE.

While Microsoft is scrambling to fix security issues, MindLink and AirWatch (News - Alert) are joining forces to protect data and prevent breaches. The result of this partnership is MindLink for AirWatch, which enables employees to securely collaborate using chat and messaging applications on their mobile devices.
