Metalogix's New Content Matrix 8.1 Further Simplifies Cloud Migration

The process of migrating to the cloud has many complications, and if the right solution is not chosen, organizations can face technical glitches that make accessing the data they want more difficult than it has to be, or lose it entirely. The new Content Matrix 8.1 from Metalogix builds on many of the features that have made this application a powerful tool for Microsoft (News - Alert) SharePoint and Office 365 migration and management. With this new version, it has become the first solution to support Microsoft's Online Provider Migration Containers for minimizing migration configurations.

When Microsoft released the Azure Migration API last year, it made it possible to migrate data to SharePoint Online much faster than the original performance speed, achieving rates up to 20 times higher. Metalogix supported this API in Content Matrix v7, which was one of the first applications to support it because it dramatically reduced the migration time. However, there were additional complications because configuring systems to support the API required additional costs and labor.

When Microsoft released SharePoint Online Provided Migration Containers, it all but eliminated the migration API configuration for every Office 365 tenant. Content Matrix v8.1 adds yet another level of convenience with less pre-migration preparation and faster migration speed to the cloud.

As Microsoft continues to remove the complexities of migrating to SharePoint Online, Metalogix has been releasing new versions of its Content Matrix platform along with its Distributed Migration process. The combined solutions minimize manual processes while ensuring the best performance and delivery configuration integrity when content is being migrated into SharePoint and Office 365, whether it is into the cloud or on premises.

“We designed Distributed Migration based on our experience with large-scale, large volume organizations that needed to successfully migrate massive content databases in record timeframes. Through the parallel processing of migration jobs, we enable much greater utilization and better workload throughput. Ultimately we reduce the inherent risks of a migration and assist in finishing your project on-time and on-budget,” said Trevor Hellebuyck, chief technology officer, Metalogix.

Metalogix encrypts the content that is going to be migrated and deposits it into a container provisioned by Microsoft with no additional costs or extra configuration. It also converts the migration API to the default behavior for all users during the Office 365 migration to maintain reliable performance and configuration throughout the whole process.

The move to the cloud is now an inevitable part of having a digital presence. If a company doesn't have access to the resources it needs in the cloud, it greatly limits its capability for future growth. The new Content Matrix 8.1 from Metalogix makes it much easier for organizations to make that data available in the cloud for their employees, customers and other parties.
