Lync Migration Week in Review: Microsoft, VT Group, Skype & More

By Alicia Young

Welcome back to the Week in Review, where we take a look at all the top stories making headlines in Lync Migration this week.

The week started off by highlighting Office 365 in a webinar with Shaun Chambers, Chief Product Officer at CallTower (News - Alert). TMC’s Stefania Viscusi writes, “Customers today are more digital than ever, Shaun explained.  As a business today, you need to be able to meet a customer where they are. It’s no longer just about being able to make and accept phone calls. Customers are using IVR, social media, Web and other channels and leaving voice behind as their preferred contact channel…As many companies plan their move to the cloud and many seek new technologies for when they do, understanding the options is critical.” According to Shaun, one of the best options is Office 365. Find out why HERE.

Speaking of staying connected, Skype has announced it will be rolling out new updates in upcoming weeks to its mobile version of the app for iOS and Android (News - Alert) devices.  The new updates will address video and voice calls on mobile so users can have the same experience as the desktop version of Skype. Each update is designed to make the experience better and easier for users. Find out everything you need to know about these updates HERE.

Meanwhile, TMC’s (News - Alert) Steve Anderson touched on the importance of security this week. VT Group recently showed its commitment to a safe network by bringing in the Tellabs (News - Alert) Passive Optical LAN system in order to deliver security and simplicity. Thus far, the company has seen success with this new system; it has gotten access to better quality employees as well as new levels of growth and space available to drive better service for the user base. Find out more HERE.

Finally, as Philip Morris International looks to bring its human resources together, it has to manage 40,000 users in more than 400 sites across four continents with a communications platform that is efficient, flexible, scalable and easy to use. Since its system from Orange (News - Alert) Business Services already works well and meets these needs, PMI announced it will be extending its contract with Orange Business Services to provide global communications services until the end of 2021. As a result, Orange Business Services will deliver a hybrid network and unified communications to the hundreds of sites and tens of thousands of users that are part of PMI. You can continue reading HERE.

While some exciting news has been highlighted here, that’s certainly not all that went on this week. Be sure to head to Lync Migration  for all the updates, and come back next week for the latest insights. Have a great weekend!
