Novus to Showcase Skype for Business Solutions at MS NYC Tech Center

Novus today announced a new partnership with Microsoft Technology Center in New York City and introduced a Skype (News - Alert) for Business trial program available to businesses that participate in unified communications activities at the Big Apple location.

Through the new partnership, the New York center will support the Novus Skype for Business Voice Solutions demonstrations, seminars, training sessions and workshops. The New York location is one of 30 Microsoft (News - Alert) Technology Centers on the planet. It’s a cloud services hub, demonstration site and showroom at which businesses and consumers can learn about and interact with Microsoft’s cloud, mobile and social solutions. Novus is a Microsoft Partner with a Gold Communications Competency status that has helped hundreds of businesses transition to Microsoft solutions over the past seven years.

Novus will provide Microsoft Technology Center visitors with its Go UC Voice! offer. This is a Skype for Business trial program.

“This new partnership with the MTC in New York gives Novus the opportunity to share its deep technical knowledge and provide businesses with guidance and resources to speed their transition to Microsoft UC,” said Chris Meehan (News - Alert), Novus managing partner.

Skype for Business, previously known as Microsoft Lync, is a popular communications and collaboration suite that supports multi-person meetings, features a variety of productivity capabilities and is secured with authentication and encryption. This spring, Microsoft announced deeper integration of Skype for Business into Word and PowerPoint for Windows desktop; rolled out Skype for Business chat within Outlook on the Web; and provided Skype for Business integration in Outlook for Android (News - Alert) and iOS.

In other recent Skype news, The Financial Times in mid September reported that Microsoft plans to shut down Skype’s London offices. This follows the replacement of various Skype managers with Microsoft managers at the location, according to the article, which noted that Microsoft in August said it would terminate 2,850 jobs globally in the fourth quarter of this year.
