Monitech Launches Car Lighter Tracker

Monitech, a Poland-based tracking technology solutions provider, along with Telit Wireless (News - Alert), unveiled the Monitech Car Lighter Tracker (CLT), a zero-installation tracking system for the automotive industry that is based on Telit’s M2M, GPS+GLONASS satellite location module technologies and m2mAIR services.

CLT is stated to be a compact device that can be operated using flexible and easy-to-use Web and mobile application tools. Inside a car, it is mounted on the 12VDC power port traditionally used for placing the cigarette lighter. Monitech claimed that it is the ideal device for global live vehicle tracking that needs no plastic SIM card, no subscriptions, no cables, no user guide and no installation.

Designed for automotive aftermarket and fleet management segments, CLT also lets drivers to socialize via Facebook (News - Alert), Twitter and LinkedIn.

The company explained that CLT features an embedded SIM chip that enhances durability and stability and is the reason for the smaller size of the CLT. The SIM chip used in the CLT is purported to be the next step in natural evolution of physical ID allowing connecting to the GSM network. Also drivers have the option to manage tracking and alarm settings though an easy to use online portal or through mobile apps available for iPhones or Android (News - Alert) devices.

“Monitech’s CLT is one of the first products to integrate a Telit GLONASS & GPS GNSS receiver with an m2mAIR connected cellular module accurately reflecting Telit’s shift towards a more service-oriented range of solutions for our customers. Monitech added that with CLT it is always easy for users to know about their vehicle’s whereabouts via options like alarm events that are sent directly to their cell phones. Monitech’s technology also delivers the reliability needed for tracking to connect anywhere and it is done so without affecting the financial viability.
