Recently, AMS selected Numerex to develop and improve its alcohol monitoring products for criminal justice use.
Alcohol Monitoring Systems’ (AMS) SCRAMx (News - Alert) is a product that brings together the CAM with house arrest. This avoids the need to strap various devices on an offender, as both technologies are integrated into one device.
Previous systems were an operational and administrative nightmare, and were hard on the individual being monitored.
According to the agreement, Numerex (News - Alert) offered advisory and design services and provided an adjustable M2M turnkey wireless solution for the company. Offering a whole range of wireless network options for M2M network connectivity, the system makes use of Numerex network services.
Apart from Satellite service, this consists of 2G, 3G and 4G GSM and CDMA services.
M2M communications makes use of a device to capture an "event," which is usually relayed with the help of a network to an application. This changes the captured event into usable information.
Numerex helps companies in identifying machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions that will take their business beyond their competitors.
“We are very proud of our alliance with AMS and the solutions that have resulted,” said Michael Marett, chief revenue officer at Numerex. “Their products are examples of how cutting-edge network technology and M2M services can be used to affect social change. Together, we will continue to create and offer the criminal justice community leading-edge monitoring tools that drive offender accountability and deliver results."
Recently, the company partnered with Monnit Corporation to integrate Monnit’s wireless gateway application into their existing M2M gateways. By using Monnit’s broad line of low cost wireless sensors, this partnership will enable Numerex to improve the functionality of its customer solutions.
Created to detect and monitor various functions that are critical to business, Monnit currently provides over 30 different types of wireless sensors.
