Sierra Wireless (News - Alert), a designer and manufacturer of wireless communications equipment, proclaimed that its newly released next-generation AirVantage M2M Cloud Platform can be leveraged for developing, deploying and operating wireless machine to machine (M2M) apps and services.
AirVantage M2M Cloud is claimed to be the simplest and most scalable way of securely connecting people and enterprise systems with machine data, enabling innovation in products, services and revenue streams. With AirVantage, M2M solutions can now be rolled out much faster than before and cost significantly less to develop, operate and scale, making managing a million wireless devices as easy as ten.
Emmanuel Walckenaer, senior vice president of solutions and services at Sierra Wirless, said in a statement, “M2M applications have traditionally been very difficult to build and even harder to manage as the number of devices increases. The AirVantage M2M Cloud is designed to eliminate the complexity from M2M, making machine information quickly and easily accessible to any business application, and to scale for tomorrow's billionth device.”
Users can avail the AirVantage M2M cloud either as an AirVantage management service or as an AirVantage enterprise platform. The management service version is stated to be the next generation device management application that can used to simplify and scale M2M operations and the enterprise platform version offers easy access to machine data using the latest cloud API standards for accelerated M2M development.
Sierra explained that the AirVantage platform is integrated with its devices and supports third-party devices through the open source AirVantage Agent, which in turn quickens time-to-market and enables customers to seamlessly select hardware with complete flexibility.
Some of the notable benefits one can enjoy from the AirVantage cloud platform are pre-integrated hardware, embedded application frameworks, network operators and cloud applications supposedly fasten M2M development, removes the need for on-premise IT infrastructure which brings down technology and management costs, independently audited, proven device-to-cloud infrastructure delivers reliable security and more.
