For some time, corporations have been able to monitor their fleets and their drivers. Now, thanks to Audiovox Electronics Corporation, average families will be able to take advantage of the same features and benefits to manage the family car and their family members, using the same basic principle in a new way.
Their product, Car Connection, offers users a number of key benefits. Among them are the ability to monitor driver habits, track vehicle location, restrict phone usage, and set boundaries when teenagers are driving the car and receive notifications when the vehicle is taken out of those boundaries. Besides safety features, there is another feature that everyone has needed at some point in their lives: LotSpot, a feature that helps guide you back to your car, no matter where you are. Other features include fuel saving tips and vehicle health reports.
According to the president of Audiovox Electronics, Tom Malone, the benefits are in the tagline; “As our tagline says, it will allow consumers to Monitor, Manage, and maintain their vehicles’ health; the habits of the drivers… knowing how fast or aggressively your teenage son is driving or whether your daughter is using her cell phone while driving or where your aging parent has wandered off to with the family car.”
Sprint’s (News - Alert) Wayne Ward is enthusiastic to be working with Audiovox, stating that it “underscores our commitment to making transportation safer and more efficient.”
Malone sees today’s technology as a way to take care of our families; “Today’s technology allows us to take our responsibility for caring for our families… whether old or young, to a whole new level, giving us the ability to monitor and manage the family vehicle like never before.” Car Connection will, inevitably, play a critical role in the lives of every family, especially if they have a teenage driver in the house.
