TAGSYS has announced that the company’s RFID technology has been selected by RYB, a provider of products for the transport of gas, water, electricity, telecommunications, irrigation and geothermal.
According to TAGSYS, the company will provide industrialized RFID technology which will support RYB’s ELIOT (Equipment for Localization and Identification by Object Technology) program.
Radio frequency identification (RFID) helps users in identifying and tracking objects with the help of a radio frequency transmission. The major frequencies for item-level tagging are 13.56 MHz (High Frequency) and 800-900MHz (UHF).
Along with information (serial number and other data) related to the item, it is affixed to or embedded into an RFID tag (News - Alert) (or transponder), made of an IC chip attached to a tiny radio antenna.
According to the agreement, TAGSYS will supply ruggedized RFID tags for underground assets. This will provide new levels of visibility for pipes and conduit location.
It will also help RYB in monitoring the objects and stop accidental damage, the company has stated.
“This is a challenging application for RFID technology that is being solved for the first time by TAGSYS. We are applying our 15 years of experience with RFID and expertise in the physics of wireless sensing to address the unique requirements of visibility of underground pipes. The result will be significant saving in money and resources, as well as prevention of life-threatening accidents due to a lack of accurate information,” said Alain Fanet, CEO at TAGSYS.
Recently, the company partnered with Hilden, a supplier of linen products and related services in U.K. With this partnership, Hilden will have the credit of being the first company to bring RFID technology in linen management. The company will make use of TAGSYS' item-level inventory management system, which utilizes the industry's most complete and scalable RFID-based infrastructure.
The system consists of numerous RFID technologies and services.
