As a concrete example of how machine-to-machine (M2M) embedded in-vehicle technology is evolving, Agero's next-generation, flexible telematics platform – which supports end-to-end, turnkey connected vehicle and multi-modal solutions – has been selected by AcuraLink to provide the core services to Acura's new cloud-based connected car system, on the all-new upcoming 2014 Acura RLX luxury sedan, slated to debut in spring 2013.

M2M connections and devices are growing at a tremendous pace, and network operators and service providers are looking to generate more revenue from these services.

Applicable in almost any environment and market, M2M is successfully being implemented across a wide spectrum of the industry, and is seen to be making an impact even in our daily lives.

This impact is actually visible in today’s intelligent vehicles that respond actively to their environmental surroundings, in the way they communicate with other vehicles and adapt to meet the needs of individual drivers and passengers.

"The services and the unique remote interfaces that Agero has developed for this program help us to provide world-class, cloud-based services to our Acura RLX owners," said Charles Koch, large project leader for AcuraLink.

Thanks to Agero’s embedded technology, AcuraLink will reportedly provide drivers with enhanced safety, security, infotainment and convenience than ever before. Users can simply and easily interact with their connected car, while owners can monitor vehicle maintenance and performance remotely.

Just as well, owners can seamlessly send information from their phone to the RLX navigation screen. In addition, other utilities will allow secure access to the vehicle’s systems.

By taking the ownership experience beyond the car and personalizing Acura's brand experience to the AcuraLink user, owners of the new RLX will “wonder how they ever got along without the connected services," noted Charles Cavolina, president of Agero Connected Services.

Agero has been named a recipient of a 2012 "CIO 100 Award" from IDG's CIO magazine for the speech interface solution it created to encourage safe driving by users of the connected vehicle (or telematics) programs it manages on behalf of global automotive OEMs.
