Considering all the different things machine-to-machine (M2M) technology can do these days, it’s really no surprise that the market is expected to explode over the next couple of years.
While M2M used to be a practice limited to a couple of different devices (security systems were some of the most well known), the dawn of the mobile age has changed the way we use it.
One of the newest innovations is that of an air conditioner that has an Internet connection.
This device actually seems like one of the last that needs an IP, but in fact, it can come in quite handy when you are looking to save energy. Imagine being able to turn your AC off in the middle of the summer when you go off to work. About an hour before you expect to come home, you can push a button on your phone or mobile device and have the air come on, making sure you have a nice and cool home when you get there.
Coming up with brand new ways to take advantage of the M2M market is something quite a few developers have taken on full time. It seems like there really is no end to the number of ways someone with an imagination can take advantage of something like this.
Being able to monitor your home and even aim your security cameras from almost any device has given users peace of mind they didn’t have back when they had to wait for their systems to alert a third party that an intruder was present. With these kinds of advancements, the sky’s the limit.
