It was a busy week in the Machine to Machine Solutions sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.

Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas recently entered a distribution agreement with a provider of M2M solutions, Digi International. Avnet customers will have access to the portfolio of ARM (News - Alert)-based embedded wired and wireless modules, wireless routers and gateways, as well as other M2M technology solutions from Digi International.

In another story, TMCnet’s Deepika Mala reported how Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) recently honored Telogis, a provider of a cloud-based, location intelligence platform, with the 2012 North American Award for Growth Leadership. Telogis’ (News - Alert) cloud-based location intelligence platform can be customized for any company that requires dynamic routing, real-time work order management, navigation, telematics and mobile integration services for their mobile workforces.

In another story, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department has signed a new agreement with Networkfleet, a Verizon (News - Alert) company, to implement the Networkfleet GPS fleet tracking system. Networkfleet was chosen for its experience in engine diagnostics, installation, customer support, training and warranties.

Also, machine-to-machine (M2M) technology is expected to explode over the next couple of years, TMCnet reported. One of the newest innovations is that an air conditioner now has an Internet connection. It can come in quite handy when you are looking to save energy. About an hour before coming home, residents can push a button on a phone or mobile device and have the air conditioning come on.

And Lantronix is offering an xPrintServer device, a hardware solution that connects to the Internet and prints. It uses the iOS native print menu, doesn’t require software downloads or drivers, involves no configuration and gives hassle-free printing from anywhere, anytime. Running iOS version 4.2 or later, it can print to almost any USB or network connected printer.
