It was a busy week in the Machine to Machine Solutions sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.

M2M technology provider Jasper Wireless recently launched M2M Catalyst. It lets partner operators set up new services for connected devices. Also, M2M Catalyst lets mobile operators accelerate service offerings in current and emerging connected devices. Three components offer essential training and tools, launching assistance and access to a service ecosystem – Launch, Build and Expand.

In addition, Gemalto, a provider of digital security software applications, is helping to save the Brazilian rainforests via Cinterion (News - Alert) M2M technology. The Cinterion M2M business is providing wireless connectivity for Invisible Tracck, a device used in a pilot program to thwart illegal deforestation in the Amazon rainforests of Brazil. The device tracks trees removed from secure areas by sending position updates to a main server.

In another story, TMCnet’s Amanda Ciccatelli reported that the number of connected devices is estimated to double over the next eight years to 50 billion globally, according to the trade association for mobile operators GSMA and Machina Research. Communication between connected devices also will explode, causing rapid growth of M2M technology.

In still another report, StickNFind Technologies, a product development company, launched several new designs at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. StickNFind Technologies has started funding and developing commercial Bluetooth designs on a crowd funding platform, IndieGoGo.com. Its first two product launches are StickNFind and MeterPlug. Also, BluTracker, a long-range GPS locator, was launched on Jan. 3.

And Telular Corporation recently announced that the TG-7FS cellular communicator for 3G/4G networks now supports the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 2013 edition for sole path communications. The NFPA overall is focused on reducing fire-related hazards. The association also works on fire codes and standards, training and related research.
