Gemalto (News - Alert) is locating people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), dementia and Alzheimer's disease with its Cinterion M2M technology.

This technology is powering the TRiLOC GPS Personal Locator Device (PLD) that helps locate people with these special health conditions.

An ultra-slim Cinterion (News - Alert) module included in a wristwatch solution provides round the clock global cellular communications and Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking for users.

This solution will reduce the need for constant physical supervision and bring relief to the people diagnosed with Autism or Alzheimer's disease.

The TRiLOC device was developed by iLOC Technologies and can provide simultaneous high-speed data, voice communications and GPS location data to users by leveraging Gemalto's Cinterion PHS8 M2M module.

By transmitting a person’s location to a cell phone or computer, Gemalto's solution is enabling caretakers to provide help as soon as it is needed. The person who is wearing the wristwatch can press the SOS (News - Alert) button whenever help is required.

"TRiLOC gives my son greater autonomy and reduces the need of constant supervision. With the tethering accessory, families or caregivers can plan trips to museums, shopping centers, and even busy theme parks without the enormous stress of the individual wandering off," said Tony Fama, iLOC president, CEO and father of a son with ASD.

Gemalto's solution also enables hands-free two-way voice calling and send status updates to caregivers.

Caregivers will also receive an alert if the TRiLOC GPS Personal Locator Device is tampered with. This device also has a long battery life and does not require frequent recharging.

Earlier this week, Gemalto signed a partnership with Ericsson (News - Alert) to offer an integrated M2M solution based on eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) subscription management technology.
