DigitalRoute, a provider of mediation and data integration solutions, and Procera Networks, a policy enforcement company, are going to merge the capabilities of their solutions to power a new Machine to Machine showcase for Telenor (News - Alert) Connexion, an enabler of connected services.

At the Mobile World Congress, to be held from February 25-28 in Barcelona, the companies will be conducting a session titled, “The Evolution of Connected Service” that will demonstrate this new innovative approach.

Robert Brunbäck, CMO at Telenor Connexion, said in a statement, “We are in the market to help our customers become more competitive. Enabling new and more dynamic business models for connected services, for example in the car, is of vital importance in today’s fast-changing marketplace. Together with DigitalRoute and Procera we showcase a concrete example of how new service offerings can be realized.”

Machine to Machine services have evolved so much from being used for simple telematics to be employed in a range of complex offerings such as infotainment. The services can be used to monetize any type of activity between connected devices on any data network.

DigitalRoute offers MediationZone that seamlessly bridges components across any layer of an IT or network architecture, providing comprehensive functionality that ensures all related systems can communicate with each other as effectively as possible. While Procera provides PacketLogic solution that does reliable classification of data traffic, and generates detailed billing records.

The combined prowess of DigitalRoute and Procera will feature traffic monitoring capabilities including counting and control and it can segment traffic, deploy counters to monitor usage and then activate controls when allowances are exceeded. Differentiating traffic is imperative for service providers if they want to make profit out of M2M services.

Jon Linden, chief strategy officer at Procera Networks commented, “Procera is very excited about the use case demonstrated by Telenor Connexion at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert). We believe in the prospect of M2M as a new business opportunity for service providers, and PacketLogic offers great value to these environments by providing intelligence about the network traffic, devices, location and more.”
