The embedded M2M solutions space covers a wide range of technologies, from telematics to digital signage to smart grid solutions and more. This week, there was a lot of news about embedded M2M solutions, covering many of these topics. Let’s take a look at some of the top stories from the past few days.

One company that works in the utilities vertical is Tollgrade. After building up decades of experience working with telecom companies, Tollgrade turned its attention to utility companies, identifying the one aspect of the infrastructure that was underserved, yet most important: the distribution network. Tollgrade’s Lighthouse product suite is targeted at this vertical, and the company uses next generation sensing equipment to gather data, and sophisticated software to turn it into actionable intelligence. This helps utility companies address issues before they become problems.

Also this week, Sprint (News - Alert) and Telefónica reached an agreement to create a mobile advertising alliance to target global brands. Together, the companies will find new ways to provide global advertisers and agencies with better options for multi-country campaigns. “This agreement fulfills a need in the advertising market for meeting the mobile advertising requirements of global brands,” said Mike Cooley, vice president of New Ventures at Sprint. “Through this alliance, we are seeking to efficiently expand our capabilities to deliver mobile marketing solutions for U.S.-based advertisers into Europe and Latin America, while Telefónica Digital aims to do the same for their regional customers in the United States.”

Finally this week, Telit Wireless (News - Alert) revealed that its DE910-DUAL M2M module has been tested and certified for Sprint’s network. The module enables a connectivity of 3.2 Mbps over the Sprint network for both consumer and commercial applications. It will allow customers of Sprint M2M solutions to implement an extensive range of M2M applications that will benefit from high-speed connectivity and network reliability.

There you have it! It’s been an exciting week in the embedded M2M solutions space. Check back soon for more news and information!
