The world is moving rapidly toward the Internet of Things (IoT), a concept that applies the use of Internet-connected devices and technology in our day-to-day lives. Right from small sensors that detect the movement of objects to complex robots that control the movement of artillery in wars, the Internet of Things has several applications to make life easier and hassle-free.

The market of Internet of Things is evolving thanks to the massive efforts undertaken by various research groups and industry alliances like Zigbee, which work toward developing common standards for these technologies.

In one of the latest announcements, RoweBots Research, which encourages the development of solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE) or machine to machine (M2M) communications, announced support for Xilinx Zynq and Microblaze Kintex FPGAs with its POSIX-compliant Unison (News - Alert) RTOS.

The Unison RTOS has advanced off-the-shelf options for Internet of Everything or M2M development using softcore Microblaze and now Zynq Arm Cortex A series processors, the company said. It helps in the development and deployment of low cost, high volume Internet of Everything applications in large scale.

With its new improved DIY capabilities, Unison RTOS delivers the software modules for building IoE applications to DIY developers on a broad set of platforms absolutely free of cost. Commercial pricing of the modules is available starting from $999.

Unison RTOS also supports a variety of wireless modules for WiFi (News - Alert), Zigbee, 6loWPAN, UHF, GPRS, 3G and GPS, giving M2M network developers with wireless connectivity and extensive POSIX applications programming interfaces for fast and easy development.

Additionally, RoweBots offers integrated development services for the Unison RTOS including hardware design and applications development.  This one-stop-shop for FPGA or Zynq-based Internet of Everything applications provides minimum time-to-market options along with minimum total cost of ownership for volume products.
