snom 7xx Series and 821 IP Phones Now Feature Native Lync Server Connectivity

Developer and vendor of IP business phones, snom technology AG (News - Alert), recently released new auto-configuration capabilities for the snom UC edition 7xx series and snom 821 business phones. These enhancements are meant to simplify the deployment of Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync in the enterprise.

These features will be delivered to the snom 7xx series and snom 821 UC edition phones via new base firmware, which enables native connectivity with the Lync server. This in turn offers out-of-the-box configuration for these devices, as well as streamlined provisioning in a multisite enterprise Microsoft Lync environment.

“snom continues to find new ways to simplify Lync with Voice deployments by improving connectivity and compatibility of standards-based snom UC edition phones,” said Dr. Michael Knieling (News - Alert), managing director of snom technology AG, in a statement. “We’re the first standards-based Lync-qualified phones to offer plug-and-play integration with Lync, taking our phones a step beyond other market options. Our easy configuration process and new features will continue to address critical Lync Voice requirements in enterprise businesses.”

The snom 7xx series — which features the snom 710, 720 and 760 IP phones — and the snom 821 share the same Apollo firmware and have passed the Microsoft Compatible Device Program's testing process. In fact, snom only just announced that the snom 7xx series received Microsoft Lync qualification earlier this year at ITEXPO Miami 2013.

snom also stated that it will bring support for a number of enhanced Lync features to its UC edition phones sometime in the coming months. These features include better integration and support for Lync collaboration and calling features, such as Click to Call, 802.1x authentication and an enhanced user experience for Lync Web conferencing.

Earlier in the year, snom recognized its snom Americas Gold and Platinum Partners for 2013, with Platinum Partner status being given to Novus, LLC, and Gold Partner status awarded to ABP (News - Alert) International and TeleDynamics.
