Microsoft Lync Solution Week in Review

Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync is the collaboration tool of choice for small, medium and enterprise organizations. This week, Lync welcomed a new customer, and multiple solutions were deployed to enhance the Lync experience.

Airport International Group, based in the nation of Jordan, implemented Microsoft Lync Server 2013 to enable unified communications (UC) across multiple locations and multiple devices. Managing airports requires real-time collaboration and information sharing, so Airport International Group wanted to deploy a solution that could deliver operational efficiency and instant connections. The company is employing chat, instant messaging (IM), Lync meetings, presence, video calls and voice calls.

Ingram Micro, a provider of telecommunications solutions, has added three of Sangoma's IP communications products to its catalog for distribution throughout the U.K. The products include the new NetBorder SBC series for SIP trunking and IP-to-IP interworking support, the NetBorder VoIP media gateway series for TDM-to-IP interconnection and the NetBorder Lync Express device for easy Lync deployments.

Also this week, OBT Anywhere and AltiGen Communications started a partnership to deliver hosted contact center software for Lync. OBT Anywhere chose AltiGen's (News - Alert) MaxACD contact center for Lync for operations across Australia, Asia and North America.

The software-as-a-service (SaaS) licensing model enables OBT Anywhere to offer a subscription-based pricing structure for its hosted contact centers. Business can run native Lync Voice with AltiGen in both dedicated and multi-tenant environments. The solutions will provide integrated enterprise videoconferencing and voice, visual voicemail, IM, presence, e-mail and other collaboration solutions. In addition to these services from Lync, AltiGen MaxACD provides monitoring and reporting, multi-level auto attendant, skills-based routing and call recording.
