TMCnet Week in Review: Lync Migration

By Rory J. Thompson

It was a “quietly active” week for Lync Migration this past week, but we have all the details.

AudioCodes (News - Alert) recently landed a new customer, InterCall (News - Alert) Conferencing Services Limited, for its One Voice for Lync portfolio. InterCall has chosen the One Voice for Lync portfolio of products because it offers a "one-stop solution for its customers." Introduced earlier this year, One Voice for Lync combines all of AudioCodes' voice-based unified communications hardware, as well as professional services and support, under one brand. This helps companies that aren't very familiar with voice technologies to put together a complete unified communications platform with as little complexity as possible. As of late January, less than a month after its launch, the One Voice for Lync portfolio had accrued interest from nearly 40 AudioCodes channel partners. InterCall's decision to choose the portfolio in support of its Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync hosted service offering demonstrates that One Voice for Lync is continuing to grow months later.

In other news, Crestron, a provider of conferencing and collaboration solutions, announced the launch of a new collaboration solution -- Crestron RL -- based on Microsoft Lync 2013. The solution is designed to bring Lync from desktop to conference room. It links to all systems in the room and gives users control of the entire room from the same touchscreen. Offered as a complete packaged solution, Crestron RL includes Crestron UC Codec for Lync, HD camera, microphone, 65-inch touch display(s), 10-inch tabletop touchscreen and more. The solution can connect over the corporate LAN and can be connected to the network easily.

Developer of IP desktop business phones snom Technology AG has added HP's Lync optimized desktop phones to its portfolio. Specifically, snom, as an HP channel partner, can now market and sell the HP 4110 and HP 4120 IP phones via its global network of distributors and resellers. The company already offers a complete line of Lync qualified IP phones, but has broadened its portfolio further with HP's IP phones in order to offer its customers greater choice. "As the market for Microsoft Lync expands, businesses require the flexibility to deploy solutions that fit their specific needs, whether that’s Lync optimized devices or Lync qualified devices," said Michael Knieling (News - Alert), chief operating officer of snom Technology AG in Berlin. "We can offer more choices to our customers, whatever their needs may be."
