Cornerstone Information Technologies has announced that it has achieved Microsoft's Partner Network Gold Communications competency.

According to the report, Microsoft awards the Gold Communications competency designation to companies that demonstrate rigorous standards for revenue, service support and customer satisfaction.

“This Microsoft Gold Communications competency demonstrates our expertise in today’s Unified Communications (News - Alert) technologies and highlights our deep knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Lync,” said Jim Moreo. “We design and implement these technologies to optimize end-user productivity and make the most of our customer’s IT investments.”

Alteva (News - Alert) made headlines this week as it announced that its Innovation Center in Philadelphia, Pa., has received a massive upgrade, including the installation of Microsoft Lync, software that gives the Innovation Center a unified communications infrastructure for instant messaging, voice, and video calling as well as Web conferencing.

"It's not enough for Alteva to say that what we're doing is innovative, we've got to show it," William Birnie, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Alteva, said in a statement. "That's precisely what the Innovation Center does, and these latest enhancements demonstrate our continued commitment to being at the forefront of UCaaS technology."

The upgrade will provide customers with the best possible experience with UCaaS before becoming fully committed in its service.

Insight Enterprises announced its involvement with the Microsoft Devices Program, which means the company can now resell Surface Pro and Surface RT to its business clients.

According to the report, the Microsoft Devices Program has been initially unveiled in the U.S. The program develops a two-tier distribution model with certified associates, thereby allowing business customers to buy Surface Pro and Surface RT.
