Microsoft Lync Solution News Week in Review
By Jacqueline Lee
TMCnet reported on new products, new partners and new rationales related to Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync this week. Let's check out the latest news from the Microsoft Lync Solutions community this week.
While Lync may require higher labor costs and strong technical know-how, it provides a strong UC solution for many businesses of all sizes. This week, Alsbridge CEO Chip Wagner released his analysis of the pros and cons of transitioning to Lync.
For example, one advantage of Lync is its ability to integrate with not only Microsoft development tools but also other branded solutions. Lync can co-function with LiveMeeting, for example, so that organizations can save on Web conferencing.
If a business already has multiple Microsoft tools for its employees, then the Lync interface will be intuitive and familiar. Also, companies can deploy Lync both on-premises or as part of Office 365's cloud services, and it provides an integrated fixed mobile solution with a range of applications possibilities. Because Lync comes with Microsoft enterprise licensing, businesses can also save on software licensing costs.
Also this week, snom technology AG, a Gold Sponsor of ITEXPO (News - Alert), announced its plans to showcase both its SIP-based VoIP phones and their new Lync capabilities. Six of the companies VoIP phones are now "Qualified for Microsoft Lync" through the Microsoft Compatible Devices Program.
snom offers a Lync Enterprise Voice solution. With phones powered by Lync Phone (News - Alert) Edition, snom IP desktop phones can support PBX functions, access contacts and calendars and utilize rich conferencing when connected to a PC. Other capabilities include integrated security and manageability.
Finally, Fusionex earned a nod as Microsoft's 2013 Business Intelligence Partner in the Asia-Pacific region. Fusionex powers business intelligence by helping companies to make sense of their data. The company focuses on delivering high-quality data through sound data management. Because Fusionex analytics solutions are platform-agnostic, customers can choose from a wide range of analytics solutions, and Fusionex data management will improve their quality.
With those pieces of news, we wrap up the highlights of this week in Microsoft Lync Solutions. Enjoy this beautiful August weekend, and hurry back to TMCnet for all of the latest updates on Microsoft Lync.
