Patton's Ramon Felder to Speak on Lync Migration Strategies at ITEXPO West
By Ed Silverstein
Ramon Felder, president and CEO of Patton-Inalp Networks for Patton's European headquarters, will speak Tuesday at ITEXPO (News - Alert) Las Vegas.
He is among the participants on the panel “Microsoft Lync: Why You Need to Develop a Migration Strategy Now,” which is being held between 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. PT today.
Felder heads up Patton's product strategy in convergence and unified communications (UC) markets, and implementation in Western Europe.
Earlier, Felder was product manager at Ascom (News - Alert). He holds a master’s degree in microtechnology from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He also received an MBA from the Universities of Bern and Rochester.
"Why has Lync become such a hot topic?" Felder asked in a recent statement. "We aim to explain what's different about Lync versus Microsoft's earlier attempt at becoming a key player in enterprise UC. We also plan to address what Lync means for existing enterprise infrastructures, as well as for hardware vendors."
Other members of the panel are: Skip Chilcott, Microsoft; Jeff Dworkin, Sangoma; Laura Neidel, Sonus Networks; and Alan Percy, AudioCodes (News - Alert). TMC CTO Tom Keating is the moderator.
The panel will address such issues as:
What’s different between Lync and Microsoft’s earlier attempt at enterprise UC?
What does Lync mean for existing infrastructure and for hardware vendors?
Another focus of the panel is how to leverage existing technology while migrating to Lync. The panel will address some of the challenges and solutions in the migration. Felder will also be among those answering questions from the audience.
Patton announced Lync certification for the company's SmartNode VoIP Gateways in June 2012. In 2011, Patton got Microsoft OCS certification.
Patton also recently launched SmartNode ESBRs. Last month, Patton announced the SmartNode Branch eXchange (SNBX), an IP-PBX (News - Alert) appliance preloaded with Windows 7, PBX software from 3CX, and configurations for SmartNode VoIP gateways.
ITEXPO Las Vegas is being held August 27-29 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Patton will exhibit with business partners at: snom, Booth 715; Vitelity, Booth 312; ABP (News - Alert), Booth 730; and 888VoIP, Booth 602.
At ITEXPO, executives, technology buyers, sellers, resellers and manufacturers from companies of all sizes and industries will assemble to forge new business partnerships, collaborate and learn together and from one another. Dozens of conferences sessions, keynotes and panels will be focused on helping attendees move their businesses forward.
