AudioCodes and Gigaset Team Up to Make Lync More Mobile

AudioCodes (News - Alert) is a provider of converged voice solutions that help enterprises and service providers to transition to all-IP voice networks. In particular, the company has extensive experience facilitating the switch to Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync unified communications setups; indeed, AudioCodes moved all of its UC hardware, as well as professional services and support, relating to Lync under the One Voice for Lync family earlier this year.
As such, it’s no surprise that the company has been cooperating with Gigaset Communications, using the AudioCodes SIP Phone Support (SPS) software to connect the GigaSet pro N720 IP DECT (News - Alert) Multicell System to Lync servers. SPS does this by enhancing AudioCodes E-SBCs and gateways.
In this particular instance, AudioCodes and Gigaset validated the connectivity of Gigaset pro products through AudioCodes E-SBC into Microsoft Lync Servers by way of comprehensive testing. The result is an enhanced productivity networking solution that offers essential business communication features such as basic calls, call hold, call forward and transfer, directory lookup, base station roaming and handover.
This new partnership comes about a month after AudioCodes provided its Mediant family of E-SBCs to Belgacom (News - Alert) in Belgium, enabling the operator to seamlessly connect enterprise Lync deployments with its core network without the need for interoperability testing.
More recently, Gigaset received a set of auto-provisioning profiles from Telinta for select Gigaset IP phone models, enabling VoIP service providers to more easily deploy large numbers of Gigaset IP phones.
This partnership between AudioCodes and Gigaset, however, goes beyond simple interoperability to create a cordless solution for enterprise users.
"By combining the AudioCodes One Voice for Lync offering and the Gigaset N720 IP DECT Multicell Solution, UCC and Enterprise cordless voice come together as an integrated solution," said Hans Juergen Huber, SVP, Business Customers at Gigaset. "Our Gigaset Partner Network benefits from these possibilities. AudioCodes is one of the largest Lync enablers in the world. As many of our resellers already sell AudioCodes systems, the link between them and Gigaset pro was easily made. We are now able to make Lync cordless and available at anytime and anywhere in and around any company."
