Options Implements Microsoft Lync within Its PIPE Platform
By Calvin Azuri
Options announced that it recently implemented Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync, the instant messaging client, within its PIPE platform. By including Microsoft Lync, the Options platform clients of the company will benefit from a robust corporate communications solution featuring instant messaging, ‘Voice over IP’ (VoIP) calls, and video conferencing.
In a statement, Options CTO, John Bryant said, “It is a real thrill to add Microsoft Lync to the Options platform as part of our PIPE Core offering. From a client perspective, Lync offers an all-in-one communication and collaboration tool which allows employees work virtually from wherever they need to work and as part of a wider team – both essential requirements of the modern financial enterprise. On the infrastructure side, our Core customers can now replace a number of ageing and complex communication products with a single, robust platform that meets FSA and FCC (News - Alert) requirements in terms of security and compliance.”
Microsoft Lync will make it easy for clients of Options to enjoy a consistent, single platform experience which features the combined benefits of a number of different communication solutions. Lync’s extensive product suite provides VoIP with integrated audio, video and web conferencing; desktop and document sharing; presence information for optimizing productivity and collaboration; mobile integration for delivering a single user experience across PC; mobile phone, phone and browser, and direct dial option to Outlook contacts; and integration with Skype (News - Alert). Furthermore, it offers complete security and regulations compliance.
John Bryant said, “Additionally, it can be implemented rapidly, managed centrally, provide for the addition of new users quickly and manage modern workplace challenges like ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD). It is a terrific addition to the Options platform.”
Lync 2013 will be a part of the Options’ PIPE Core services, which is a vital aspect of the Options’ Private Financial Cloud platform. PIPE Core has been designed as a robust business technology infrastructure service and features comprehensive and resilient technology architecture for supporting day-to-day business communication, compliance with regulations, and management of business operations.
