It was a busy week in the Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync Solution sector. Here are some of the major stories.
SMART Technologies, a provider of collaboration solutions, has begun shipping its SMART Room System for Microsoft Lync worldwide. The SMART Room System was certified by Microsoft to be interoperable with Lync Server 2013. Also, it is integrated with advanced features to help extend customer Microsoft Lync investment into any collaboration space.
In another story, it was reported how competition in the cloud has revved up once again, with Microsoft announcing a new group of enterprise cloud products and services. The move follows major cloud computing announcements from Oracle and Verizon (News - Alert). The new Microsoft solutions will be available on Oct. 18, and are designed to complement Office 365 and help deliver Microsoft’s enterprise cloud strategy.
In addition, one of the biggest developments in relation to Microsoft Lync in a good while likely has to be the SMART Room System for Microsoft Lync from SMART Technologies. A complete room-based solution, it is geared toward building collaboration capability from a central location. It is likely going to put a lot of extra collaborative power in companies' hands, and be a welcome component of remote worker campaigns.
And Patton Electronics, a Gaithersburg, Md.-based manufacturer of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and Ethernet extender solutions, is expanding its presence in Poland and Turkey. The Central and Eastern European markets contain several fast-growing economies that are great opportunities for next generation communications solutions. As further confirmation of the attractiveness of particularly the Turkish market, Patton (News - Alert) has follow-up with the signing of an agreement with Istanbul-based system integrator TESAS as value-added distributor for Patton products to provide its solutions across Turkey.
