Shopping can usually be a hassle, especially for men who have to shop with their wives or girlfriends. Not to fear gentlemen, mobile commerce is here to save the day.

Mobile commerce has advanced in such a short time. Its total revenue is set to reach almost $21 billion this year, a 99 percent increase from the previous year.

One company certainly reaping the rewards of mobile commerce is eBay (News - Alert), as the online shopping giant is expected to exceed $10 billion in mobile sales this year alone.

Just recently, eBay Marketplaces enjoyed their biggest mobile sales day to date. Conventional wisdom would say it was Cyber Monday (News - Alert), where one would be hard pressed not to find a good deal online, but you’d be wrong. Maybe it was the busiest shopping day of the year, Black Friday? Sorry but no, it was actually Sunday December 2nd.

“But because consumers always have their smartphone’s in hand, eBay Mobile facilitates shopping when desire, demand, impulse is at its peak,” Steve Yankovich (News - Alert), the VP of Mobile at eBay recently told CNBC.

Not only was December 2nd eBay’s largest shopping day, but it also marked PayPal’s largest mobile shopping day as well.

Some pizza places will run promotions like “30 minutes or less or your order is free,” but if eBay wanted to, it could market a one hour or less delivery policy in select cities.

eBay is taking mobile commerce to the next level, offering same day delivery to shoppers in New York and San Francisco. Partnered with a few big name companies like Best Buy, Macys, Home Depot, Toys R Us and Target (News - Alert), eBay Now can offer same day delivery, in some cases even under an hour.

Mobile Commerce will see its numbers increase, as mobile banking becomes more popular. In 2009, there were around 10 million active mobile bank users. That number is estimated to inflate to over 50 million by next year.
