With taking mobile commerce to a new level, testing out new pilot programs and now an upgraded iOS app, eBay (News - Alert) has been quite busy as of late. eBay has just released a new mobile app that makes buying and selling much easier on the go. The new upgrade makes it much easier for users to set up auctions from their mobile device, as well as making buy-it-now instant purchases.

With the new upgrade, users have almost as much control from their mobile device as they would if they were sitting in front of a computer. The new iOS app will offer its guidance for helping you choose the proper category in which to sell your item. It also gives advice on what the seller’s appropriate asking price should be, as well as the correct shipping charges.

One of the major upgrades that users will be pleased with is the simplicity of being able to add and edit photos for your auction. eBay improved its workflow to make it easier for users to add photos. In the past, users would have to jump from different apps to edit the photos to make them look their best, but with the addition of editing tools in the upgrade, users no longer need to run multiple apps to edit photos.

This new upgrade is just another way eBay has been trying to expand and reach new customers with its recent pilot programs. eBay recently tried out a few different programs to make buying and selling easier for its users. One of the programs eBay offered was a home pickup service, where they send a representative to your home, carefully log your inventory, and deliver your items to a certified seller for a cut of the price.

The second program was a mall pilot where customers were encouraged to drop off clothes and small electronics to be evaluated while the customer shopped. Once the customer was done shopping, they had the option to sell their items to the eBay representative on site, or sell the items on their own with help and advice from the representative.

eBay is also conducting a third experiment called eBay Now, where customers can place orders from large retail stores and have the items delivered to their home in a matter of hours. Partnered with a few big name companies like Best Buy (News - Alert), Macys, Home Depot, Toys R Us and Target, eBay Now can offer same day delivery, in some cases even under an hour. This experiment is only available in San Francisco and some parts of New York, with no word on whether it will be expanded to other markets.

With the emergence and growth of mobile commerce, the new upgrade also features a faster checkout process for buyers. There were also some bug fixes and search enhancements, although the specifics were not released. The new upgrade is available for no charge in the iTunes App Store.
