ATM Site Manager, a machine to machine solution, was recently developed by WebNMS. It makes remote monitoring of ATMs possible, eliminating the need for an attendant and allows operators to cut costs significantly.

ATMs can cost a lot to operate with security, power management and temperature control. An efficient system like ATM Site Manager allows for the centralized control over multiple ATM sites. Air conditioning is remotely controlled; there is a camera for video monitoring and any attempt to break into the machine will notify security staff or send an SMS alert right way. Even opening and closing the door to the ATM facility is monitored.

In an interview with mydigitalfc.com, Prabhu Ramachandran, director of WebNMS, says the savings can be impressive. He commented, “Our solution would help cut down the cost by at least 40 per cent. The system can be automated to switch on/off ACs and lights at desired times. Moreover, automated solutions also reduce manual intervention on the sites.”

A total of 12 different settings in the facility are recorded regularly. If any fall outside of accepted limits, service technicians can be dispatched to repair the problem. Problems like low battery power or Internet problems that would go unfixed for days in the past can now get immediate attention with ATM Site Manager. Power outages cause data to be stored at the server until repairs can be made.

WebNMS is a division of Zoho Corporation Pvt. Ltd. and based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Prior to 2009, Zoho (News - Alert) was known as AdventNet. The company has been involved in telecom and has developed an office suite similar to Microsoft Office. The WebNMS Framework is deployed at over 25,000 sites and every Tier 1 carrier in the world.

Solutions like the ATM Site Manager are evidence that many routine tasks can be automated and provide cost savings to business owners. It not only eliminates the need for certain human intervention, but in situations like reporting power failures and other critical errors, it outperforms the human equivalent. It's a great time to observe advances in automation as long as it's not your job being targeted.
